Rally Obedience is an American Kennel Club (AKC) companion sport. Rally is a team sport where you and your best friend navigate a specially designed course. This course consists of 10-20 different signs providing visual instructions for the skill that is to be performed. You and your dog move through the course at your own pace side-by-side with your dog on your left and the signs on your right. Rally Obedience was created to allow you to actively reinforce good dog behavior in competition by using verbal and non-verbal praise. Smiles, encouraging words, laughter and a general happy feeling are encouraged in the ring for training and for competition. The main goal of Rally is to demonstrate your ability to work as a team while performing skills, with the dog under control.
Requirements
Completion of Manners II is required. Your dog should have an understanding of sit, down, stay, come and heel.
What to Bring to Class
Your dog should be outfitted with a training collar (flat, martingale) and a 6-foot leash. You should have comfortable shoes and clothing you can move in.
As this is a positive reinforcement training class, please bring treats (small bite-size pieces and plenty of them) and/or a toy (ball on a string, tug lead), anything that motivates your dog, to class as rewards for your dog.
